Why I Started Lost Traditions

A few years ago I started writing down the things I was learning, old preserving methods, forgotten recipes, the kind of homemaking knowledge that used to travel naturally from grandmother to daughter.

I realized I was not the only one looking for it. There is a whole community of women quietly returning to the old ways, growing kitchen gardens, keeping sourdough starters alive, lining their shelves with something they made themselves.

I built Lost Traditions Letter Society so we could find each other and so none of this knowledge has to be lost again. Every month I write you a letter. I hope it feels like hearing from someone who understands.

Rachelle....

From the Women in Our Community

Anne K., Wisconsin

It Made Me Want to Slow Down

I opened the envelope on a Tuesday morning before work and I ended up sitting at my kitchen table for twenty minutes just reading. I cannot remember the last time something made me do that.

Margaret T., Vermont

Finally, Something Worth Keeping

Everything feels disposable these days. This does not. I have kept every single insert and I am already planning to bind them at the end of the year. The old ways page alone is worth the subscription.

Sarah M., Oregon

I Have Not Stopped Thinking About It

I did not expect to feel so moved by something that arrived in my mailbox. The letter felt like it was written just for me. I made the jam recipe the same weekend it arrived and I have not stopped thinking about this subscription since.

Christine L., Montana

Already Part of My Kitchen

I have been preserving and gardening for years but there is something different about receiving this in the mail. It feels intentional. The recipe card is already in my kitchen box and the pantry labels are on my shelves. Worth every penny."

Donna Peel, Alberta

My Grandmother Would Have Loved This

She was the one who taught me to can and preserve, and she passed before I learned everything I wanted to from her. Reading this every month feels like continuing something she started. I am so glad I found it.

Julie Rudy, Dandridge Tennessee

We Are Both Members Now

I bought this as a gift for my mother and she called me the day it arrived. She said it was the first piece of mail in years that she actually sat down to read. We are both members now.

WHAT ARRIVES EACH MONTH

From the Kitchens of Our Members

A monthly feature sharing a recipe, tradition, or piece of home life from a society member. Over time this page becomes entirely member-generated, a community built through the work of hands and homes.

A SOCIETY, NOT JUST A SUBSCRIPTION

Built for those who are choosing a different way of living.

For those who make instead of buy. Who grow what they can. Who cook from scratch, preserve food, and feel that the old ways of home are worth holding onto.

Though we may be in different places, we are gathered by the same values.

Over time this becomes more than something you receive. It becomes something you belong to.

The Lost Traditions Letter Society is a monthly letter sent by post, created for those who feel drawn to a slower way of living.

Each issue is thoughtfully put together and includes a seasonal letter, a page from the old ways, a recipe card to collect and make in your own kitchen, and small practical pieces to use and keep. Plus... each month we will include one of our member's recipes and stories to share with everyone. Connecting like minded people who value old traditions is what we are about.

It is meant to be something you sit down with, a quiet moment in your day, away from the noise.
